Bear were appointed to provide civil and structural design consultancy services for the new dwelling located off Llandennis Road, Cyncoed
Bear were involved from the conceptual planning stage and have been providing engineering services through to scheduled completion in 2024.
The site is located near a flood zone and a Welsh Water combined sewer also runs though the site boundary and so consideration was needed regarding location of the proposed structure and SuDS features. After various design options were contemplated, SAB approval was obtained from Cardiff Council in 2023.
The structure has been designed using steelwork to provide the load bearing support frame to the dwelling. The architect envisaged numerous cantilevered sections of the proposed structure and therefore detailed structural modelling was carried out to deliver this complex but aesthetically pleasing design.
The scheme is scheduled to be completed in Winter 2024.
