Victoria Street, Cwmbran
Bear were appointed to provide civil and structural design consultancy services for the SAB, external works and sub-structure of the proposed 13no. self contained apartments in Cwmbran. The superstructure was designed by the supplier of the lightweight steel framing system.
Situated upon the site of a former solicitor’s office and rifle club, this project encompassed various challenges in order to obtain a SAB compliant design.
A Welsh Water public sewer also crosses the site and so various design options were considered to allow the structure to be completed and SAB approval to be obtained.
The completed project has been well received with Bron Afon’s Chief Executive saying ‘The build at Victoria Street is a great example of the kind of high-quality, sustainable and energy efficient homes we’ve committed to creating over the next five years in our Corporate Strategy.
